Gallatin County offers an incredible array of outdoor activities and a rich network of community and backcountry trails and waterways. As Gallatin County continues to grow and more and more people are discovering opportunities to enjoy our public resources, we encourage everyone to recreate with courtesy and kindness.

The Gallatin Valley Kind is a partnership of organizations working together to help maintain and steward our local resources. Our goal is to provide consistent messaging to help everyone be respectful of each other and the resources that make living and playing here so wonderful.

 

 

Hike Kind: Be a part of your community

Create a culture of kindness on the trails; kindness to the wildlife, kindness to fellow trail users, and kindness to the trail itself.

 
 
 

Ride Kind: Together we can keep trails open, accessible, and maintained.

By riding kind, we can preserve and expand trail access and build a positive trail culture for all trail users.

 
 

Ski Kind: Follow the Skiers Responsibility Code 

When we ski, we are our best selves, whether we are speeding along, shuffling, or just learning to stay upright. Together, we can share the trail, ski safe, and make this a welcoming place for all.

 
 

Wag Kind: Be Part of the Team

When dogs and their owners recreate in the outdoors, we are part of a team of trail and park users who need to be respectful of one another in order to maximize the enjoyment of outdoor spaces and keep trails open for everyone.

 
 

Hunt Kind: The Hunting Code of Ethics

Hunting is an important part of Montana’s culture and heritage. Hunting has traditions that stretch back generations. Hunters need to represent themselves and this tradition in the best possible way.

 
 

Fish Kind: Protect the Resources for All

As more and more people enjoy fishing, it is imperative that anglers Fish Kind and protect the resource. This means being aware of other anglers/water users and respecting private property, and leaving the landscape better than you found it. That way everyone can enjoy what many believe to be Montana’s best treasure.

 
 

Run Kind: Run with Everyone—Share the Trails

By running with purpose and practicing good trail etiquette, you help make outdoor spaces welcoming for everyone. No matter your pace or distance, stay on designated trails, respect the land, run single file and be courteous when passing others.
